Zheng He Ocean Voyage Exhibition and International Marine Expo is to be held in Shanghai from July 8th to 14th.

The year 2005 will mark the 600th anniversary of the first ocean voyage embarked by the great Chinese navigator Zheng He.

As a commemorative activity, the expo will focus on Zheng He's legendary expedition, and China's maritime history and technological achievements.

It will also exhibit the up-to-date achievement in voyage, shipbuilding industry, and port construction.

From 1405 to 1433, Zheng He made seven voyages, visiting 37 countries. He traveled through Southeast Asia to faraway Africa and Arabia, leading the biggest maritime expenditure of that time.
