The Asia-Pacific Education Research Association Conference 2006 opened in Hong Kong Tuesday which attracted about 800 local and overseas educators to attend.
Featuring "Educational Research, Policy and Practice in an Era of Globalization: The Asia Pacific Perspectives and Beyond", the conference is hosted by the Hong Kong Institute of Education, Hong Kong Education Research Association and some other organizations.
Apart from local participants, over 500 delegates from nearly 40 countries and regions gathered at the conference to discuss challenges on education reform which is in face of globalization.
The conference aims at optimizing and integrating efforts of educators, researchers and policy makers to effectuate educational reform and development in a dynamic context of globalization, location, and individualization with the Asia-Pacific perspectives and beyond.
During the three-day conference, over 550 papers and presentations will be delivered, and there are a number of symposiums and workshops on a wide range of topics, including education reform, marketization and privatization in education and early childhood education.
