International action movie star Jackie Chan's latest effort Rob-B-Hood has raked in 150 million yuan (US$19 million) at Asian box offices since its release on September 29, the studio revealed yesterday.
According to Beijing Times today, the action comedy Rob-B-Hood has grossed 150 million yuan in Asia, with the Chinese mainland's contributing 80 million yuan (US$10.1 million) as well as 23 million yuan (US$2.9 million) in Hong Kong. Over 4.5 million entrances have so far been totalled.
Rob-B-Hood has earned much applause from both critics and audiences. Some Chinese media named it the "best film that Jackie Chan has made in a decade" and "one of the best Chinese films in 2006". A celebration party was held last night in Hong Kong, with Jackie Chan, the film crew and top executives in attendance.
The movie company Huayi Brothers revealed yesterday that they will consider extending the screening period for 40 more days due to its extraordinary appeal. The DVD was also released a week ago though the movie was still on, selling 20,000 copies in one week and debuting at No.1 on Beijing's DVD sales chart.
